After playing two seasons of football at Georgia Southern University, Alex Callegari transferred to Florida State University where he completed a bachelor's degree in nutrition, taking the time to manage a fitness program at a youth summer weight loss camp between his junior and senior years. Upon graduating, Alex Callegari began working as a nutritionist and personal trainer. He has been in this field for 20 years and, in addition to working with private clients, now operates a corporate wellness program for employees of the Miami, Florida-based MDM development group.
Alex Callegari is also a graduate of the Coral Springs Fire Academy who has been working as a firefighter and paramedic with the City of Boca Raton Fire Rescue since 2005. In 2014, he leveraged his background in nutrition to compete in the annual Steak-umm Firehouse Challenge and won the $10,000 John Wilson Memorial Scholarship, following which he made live appearances on the Steve Harvey Show and Fox and Friends. Mr. Callegari has since placed in multiple cooking competitions and has served as a brand ambassador for Continental Fresh, Kansas City Steak Company, and Gunter Wilhelm Cutlery and Cookware Company.
