Recently beginning work as a resident physician at the University of Louisville, Dr. Ali Azam Farooqui also shares his expertise with the public. Dr. Ali Azam Farooqui’s professional interests include addiction medicine, neurological disorders, and healthcare management.
Dr. Farooqui cofounded Fresh Start for Kentucky, a nonprofit organization that helps recovering addicts lead productive lives. Its services include housing assistance and job training. He also serves as a legal consultant to both plaintiffs and defendants in medical malpractice suits.
Previously, Dr. Farooqui was vice president of business relations at Chambers Medical Group, where he handled operational aspects of nine clinics. He was involved in recruitment, marketing, hospital contracts, and clinical performance, among other responsibilities. Before that, he managed insurance-oriented teams at the Kentucky Health Benefits Exchange.
He earned his MD at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, graduating with honors after receiving an academic excellence scholarship. Dr. Farooqui has a wide range of outside interests, including Eastern philosophy, painting, and history. He is fluent in Hindi and Urdu and proficient in Arabic.
