Alison Dessert, a senior Public Relations major at Roger Williams University, with minors in both Political Science and History, who enjoys reading, baking, wandering, and a good cup of coffee.
Alie displays a keen sense for creating key messages and identifying with target publics. Her creativeness in composing these messages has helped her stand out in her classes at RWU.
This fall, Alie began interning with Advocacy Solutions LLC in Providence RI. There Alie is learning about Government Relations and Public Affairs, two types of PR that she is interested in pursuing as a career. She has also worked with Dr. Hume Johnson, of Hume Johnson Consulting, training company executives and professionals in media relations. Alie is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, (PRSSA) at Roger Williams University. She is involved with meetings and is a member of the RWU PRSSA Bateman team for 2014.
Alie also has a passion for dance. She began dancing when she was just 3 years old and is an active member of the RWU Hawkettes Dance Team, dancing at pep rallies, fundraisers, and benefit shows around the state. Alie has been elected the PR Chairperson of the Hawkettes for the 2013-2014 school year. She enjoys planning fundraisers and leading the team’s Fundraising Committee.
Alie is from Enfield, CT. At home she works at her local Barnes and Noble as a bookseller and barista. She has always had a passion for reading, and loves being able to get lost in a good book. Alie also works at a small breakfast place, Molina's Cafe in Enfield, CT as a waitress. Through the years she has created a strong work ethic. She understands that to learn and improve in both work, and life, you must work as hard as possible.
Another passion that Alie has is a love of baking, which is appropriate because her last name is, in fact, Dessert. She enjoys baking different sweet treats, and at some point in her life would like to open up a small bakery and coffee house.
After graduating from RWU in May, Alie hopes to move to a city such as Boston, New York, or Providence. Her goal is to work at a PR firm specializing in public affairs, media relations, or government relations. With her passion for Public Relations, and drive to accomplish her goals, the future looks bright for Miss. Dessert.
