Throughout her career in social work and mental health, Alyssa Mandel has concentrated on empowering her clients and helping them to build effective coping tools. She focuses largely on the treatment of eating disorders, having worked with clients with this problem both individually and in groups. Currently the founding director of the Mandel Center of Arizona, Alyssa Mandel offers both long-term and short-term counseling with a strengths-based focus.

Alyssa Mandel holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as a master of social work from Columbia University. She began her social work career as a senior certified social worker and reproductive health specialist with Creative Arts Workshops for Kids, where she offered counseling as well as crisis intervention in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. She also served as an intake coordinator and therapist for Touchstone Community Services, where she worked with children ages 5 to 17.

Subsequently the director of after-school programming for the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, Alyssa Mandel then accepted a position as the director of social services for the Phipps Community Development Corporation. There, she provided individual counseling, support groups, and crisis support for adolescents up to age 22. Ms. Mandel also spent more than four years working with clients of all ages in private practice in White Plains, New York, before opening the Mandel Center of Arizona in 2003.
