Arnold Magcale

Arnold Magcale is a Northern California native who enjoyed a highly successful 10 year career with the US Navy Special Forces before earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts. From there, he has gone on to build an illustrious twenty five career in IT, where he has introduced and obtained no less than five patents and also became a senior member of both The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the North American Network Operators Group (NANOG). Magcale also earned a spot on the Board of Directors for GolfMD.com, and Radaptive Inc, and acted as a technical advisor to Silicon Valley Telecom Internet Exchange and Splice Communications.

A man of firsts, Magcale's most noted successes are in the fields of high availability networks and cloud design, Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, high scalable service infrastructure and business process optimizations. In 1998 he was responsible for architecting and deploying the United States Postal Service's first fiber optic network, linking nationwide satellite offices to the head office. In 1999 Magcale joined Exodus Communications, one of the first true co-location data centers in existence, where he helped deploy the likes of Google, Yahoo, Lycos and Microsoft. Following that, he joined Loudcloud, where he helped develop the first cloud based web hosting company. In 2001, he joined Danger Inc where he was the first to deploy a cloud infrastructure in a mission critical production environment on one of the earliest extant smart phones, the Danger-Hiptop/Sidekick. His successes at Danger saw the company recognized for its innovative technology, and in 2008, it was acquired by Microsoft.

Outside of information technology, Magcale is an active member of the American Institute of Philanthropy as well as being a master scuba diver, and accomplished martial arts practitioner of Kempo, Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and Eskrima / Arnis. Magcale is married of 25 years and has four children.
