Bekka Whitney is a dynamic force in the UK music scene, known for her powerful storytelling vocals, electrifying stage presence, and unwavering commitment to supporting independent and marginalised artists. Her journey began with the release of her first single with the house trio Nightgeist in 2015, blending emotive vocals with infectious beats that quickly garnered attention in the electronic music world.
In 2019, Bekka ventured into solo artistry with her self-produced single I Never Knew, which received international airplay and showcased her talent for crafting deeply resonant music. She followed this with Buyer Beware, a genre-blending collaboration with artist Jorrel, further cementing her versatility and appeal.
Bekka’s live performances are a testament to her wide-ranging talent. She has headlined the Classical Uproar concert, delivering iconic dance classics alongside a 28-piece orchestra under the baton of Simon Robert-Shaw. Bekka has also been a staple at major events like London Pride, where she has graced both the Women's Stage and Main Stage multiple times, as well as Amsterdam Pride, performing with DJ Jasmine Perez.
In addition to her solo work, Bekka is the lead vocalist of Jada Funk, a band that has held successful residencies in some of London’s most vibrant music scenes, including Camden, Hackney, Shoreditch, and Islington.
Behind the scenes, Bekka has faced significant personal challenges, including struggles with PTSD and a recent heart attack, leading to a diagnosis of heart disease. Music has been her anchor through these difficult times, helping her to cope and find meaning in life’s struggles. She often credits music as the reason she is still here today, using her experiences to fuel her passion for her craft.
Beyond her own music career, Bekka is the founder of A-Capella 360, an artist development and event management company that provides consultancy and creates platforms for independent artists. Through A-Capella 360, she has spearheaded events such as Live on the Thames, Aural, Live Lab, providing crucial opportunities for emerging talent. Bekka's dedication to inclusivity is evident in her work, particularly in supporting neurodivergent artists and those with mobility challenges.
Currently, Bekka is working on her debut solo album, collaborating with renowned producer Trak. With a rich history of performances and a growing body of work, Bekka Whitney continues to push boundaries and elevate the voices of those often overlooked.
