About me - Benat is 14-years-old. Dublin, Ireland and has Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited that disease that primarily affects the lungs and pancreas.

In Ireland over 1,200 people have the disease and approximately 900 are children.

Ireland has the highest rate of Cystic Fibrosis per capital in the world.

Benat was diagnosed at a young age and in recent years Benat has been keen to spread awareness of the awful disease, so that’s what he’s been doing.

Back in 2014, Benat had an Interview about CF for the Sean Ó Rourke Show.

Benat was contacted and asked if he would like to speak on RTÉ News2Day here in Ireland as Ireland’s National Awareness Day for Cystic Fibrosis Day was coming up, so he did.

Then in January 2018, Benat wanted to spread awareness of what a typical day with Cystic Fibrosis is like. So that was published in The Irish Times, The Irish Independent and many other Irish Online News Sites.

In January 2017 Benat had started a new drug called Orkambi which is to help prevent CF getting worse. It’s not a cure but still helps.

So come around to January 2018. The UK have currently not funded Orkambi. So Benat was asked by the BBC if he would like to explain how Orkambi improved his life. So the BBC Crew flew over and filmed Benat’s typical daily routine to show how Orkambi has improved Benat’s life, Benat aired on BBC Breakfast.

13th Of April 2018, was ‘65 Roses Day’ Benat wanted to spread the good word, so he spoke on the Ryan Tubirty radio show where he spread awareness of 65 Roses Day and explained a bit about CF and his life with it.

24th Of April, Benat was acknowledged by Cystic Fibrosis Ireland in the Cystic Fibrosis Spectrum magazine for all his advocacy and fundraising work he has been doing such as TV Interviews, Radio Interviews, Online Blogs, Meeting with Ministers and organizing 65 Roses Day Collections.

Benat is very keen in spreading awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
