Bob Nichols became a national celebrity during the 2000 Presidential Election, when PBC Supervisor of Elections Theresa LePore appointed her Press Secretary during the historic election recounts in Florida which made world-wide headlines, and resulted in the election of George Bush as President over Al Gore. Bob is the man who told the nation and the world about those little hanging pieces of punched card paper called CHADS. Bob Nichols appeared before cameras from news agencies worldwide, answering questions about the most controversial U.S Presidential election in history. Bob is credited with coining the phrase "Pregnant Chads". These days Nichols is a licensed professional auctioneer with MahaffeyAuction.com, and spcializes in Storage Auctions.

Bob is in demand as an emcee and celebrity auctioneer for charities. He hosts many galas, balls, luncheons, and charity golf tournaments every year. As a licensed charity auctioneer, Bob has personally raised over $14.5 million dollars for non-profit organizations over the past 18 years. His auctions are fun and entertaining, and he amazes audiences with his mastery of the auctioneer's fast-chant. Bob Nichols’ Television career began at WEAT TV-AM-FM (now WPEC) in 1970. Already a High School graduate, and in college, Bob was a TV weatherman and reporter at age 17. By 1973, Bob had moved to WPTV Channel 5 as news anchorman. In 1980 Nichols was named News Director and anchorman for WTVX TV-34. In 1982 he returned to WPEC and remained as a news anchorman until retiring from full-time broadcasting in 2000.
