Dr. Brian Gilchrist is a respected presence in the New York medical community who guides NYU-Winthrop University and held responsibilities as chief of pediatric surgery there until early 2019. Successful in building and expanding a dynamic program, Dr. Brian Gilchrist worked to ensure that the pediatric surgery trauma system functioned at the highest possible level.

From 2014 to 2018, Dr. Gilchrist served as chairman of surgery at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, and also guided the residency program for general surgery. Ensuring a high quality of care and sustained academic learning, he was selected staff surgeon of the year by surgical residents in 2015, and the following year earned teacher of the year recognition from New York Medical College students. During this time, one of his responsibilities was overseeing the hospital’s morbidity and mortality conferences.

Over the years, Dr. Gilchrist has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles, while also lecturing in his field at venues worldwide. Speaking before the New England Surgical Society in Maine in 2012, Dr. Brian Gilchrist gave a presentation titled “Argon Beam Coagulation Negates the Need for Drainage in the Excision of Cystic Hygromas."
