Brian Mcgiffert

Expert project manager and hardware and software quality assurance manager Brian McGiffert has served as a consultant and an employee at both start-ups and Fortune 100 companies alike. From 2001 to 2008, he created and managed two non-technology businesses, as well as working for a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telecom company. Most recently, Brian McGiffert acted as Program Manager for the NVIDIA Corporation in Santa Clara, California, an industry leader in computer visual technologies that utilizes a modified form of Agile software development. There, he helped manage graphics processing unit (GPU) software releases within NVIDIA’s software quality assurance department, working closely with a global team of 250 engineers in Santa Clara and India. Prior to his independent work, Brian McGiffert served in many positions that gave him the chance to showcase his skills in program management, personnel management, product development, and technical marketing. His positions included Director of Software Quality Assurance and Release Management for ReplayTV & SonicBlue in Mountain View, California; Manager of Software Quality Assurance for Starlight Networks & PictureTel, also in Mountain View; and Manager of Cross-Platform Integration Quality for Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California. In addition, Mr. McGiffert served LANQuest Labs in Milpitas, California, as a Lab Manager and Division Manager. Brian McGiffert also has extensive experience in writing and has authored many articles for trade magazines, including Network World and Communications Week. He speaks publicly, as well, and he has presented at the Networks Expo and Network World trade shows. Brian McGiffert believes in giving back to the community, and to that end, he contributes to United Way Worldwide, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, and Team In Training, a program belonging to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that supports participants in marathons, half-marathons, century rides, hikes, and triathlons that benefit charity. He currently resides in San Jose, California, where he enjoys running and hiking when he finds time. Brain McGiffert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Princeton University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design from Stanford University.
