Brigitte Robindore
French craftswoman in Provence, France.
I’m Brigitte Robindoré, a craftswoman from Provence who finds beauty in the meeting of tradition and modern design. I grew up in a family of artisans, surrounded by the scent of wood and the rhythm of hands at work. From my parents, I learned the foundations of fine woodworking and textile arts — lessons that shaped not only my craft but also my way of life.
For over four decades, I’ve devoted myself to creating pieces that tell quiet stories through texture, form, and balance. My work is rooted in time-honored techniques but guided by a contemporary eye, celebrating the harmony between heritage and innovation. I believe that each object made by hand carries a spirit — a sense of patience and authenticity that machines cannot replicate.
Beyond my atelier, I share my knowledge through workshops and mentorship, helping young artisans find their own creative voice. When I’m not working, I find inspiration in sketching, gardening, and wandering the Provençal countryside that continues to shape my art.
As I often remind my students, « Les mains savent ce que le cœur ressent. » — “The hands know what the heart feels.”
