The Story

I started using shea butter on my skin after learning about its healing qualities. My skin is very sensitive and I’ve had eczema since I was a baby. My skin immediately loved the shea and using it regularly has completely done away with my eczema breakouts. I loved not having to use chemical-laden steroid creams anymore and as someone who loves being creative, I soon started playing around with shea, whipping it for a smoother texture and mixing it with different oils. I used it in my hair as a multi-purpose moisturizing, protecting and styling product.

I gave it as gifts to friends when they asked what I used on my curls, others to rub on their pregnant bellies and made batches for the newborn babies in my life. Those friends encouraged me to sell my stuff, but I wasn’t interested. I’ve been happy to give it away and teach others how to whip up their own batches.

Recently, when a sister-friend needed to urgently raise some funds to complete her documentary, I offered to make some product that she could sell. One thing led to another and thus, Buttered Up was born.

About the Product

• Always all natural. There are enough products with chemicals; I will never use them in mine.
• Multi-use. Although I experiment with different recipes, all Buttered Up products can be used anywhere, from your hair to your toes.
• Completely custom. Shea and coconut oil are my go-to ingredients, but I also work with Cocoa butter and a variety of essential oils for scented butters. You tell me what you want and how you want it.

• Massage
