Matt Clarke

Public Speaker in London, England, United Kingdom

Growing up, I wasn't equipped with the skills required to thrive in social situations, & only comfortable making use of the ability to make people laugh in class, or entertain on stage- this is part of the reason acting w a logical step.

Recent years saw a big change in my character. In terms of building contacts, sustaining connections, and making an effort to make those around me happy, the skills I've gained have organically grown into something useful in a professional environment.

Cocktail bartending is one of the many ways I've made money between acting. Everybody "worked in a bar", but I worked in venues across the country where a wide range of product knowledge in wine, spirits, & mixology is essential- as well as the ability to work at an extremely fast pace & have an affinity with customers. This is definitely something I've taken with me into life in the corporate sector; whether it be with colleagues, prospects or clients.

It's amazing to see how real the term 'transferable skills' really is. And I saw the evidence of this really quickly in 2016 when I started my first role in a professional environment and found that all of the experience I'd gained in previous areas was paramount in making a quick step towards grasping what it takes in a sales environment.

As well as cocktail bartending, since being in London I've been a drama teacher with Troupers ltd, a drumming instructor with CFBT, an events co-ordinator with Go Mammoth, a model, event promoter, a photographer, fight choreographer. All of this while sustaining a 5 year career in acting in which I even landed a role as a main character in a cinema release 'United We Fall'.

I am madly passionate about Acting and The Arts in general. It was great to get amazing feedback from some of the best agents in the world when graduating, but in such a crowded industry, I didn't manage to find the an agent of the caliber required to take me to the next level. The one I signed with was okay, but I ended up doing both our jobs and finding most of my own work.

I'm always hungry for a new challenge, and no stranger to hard work, I've taken the energy I've used to make myself a walking business & focus it in one direction with some amazing corporate roles. Everything I've learned until now has helped me develop into a well-rounded professional, and I'm excited continue to grow.
