Marcela Calderón

I am a Children's books Illustrator, and I've been working as a freelance illustrator for many years. I grew up at San Nicolás, Argentina, surrounded by streams, trees, nature and pets that are my inspiration.

I always drew. For years I devoted to music, playing the flute, studying music, until my passion for illustration grew, and today music is part of each drawing, accompanying me in the creation process.

I like the smell of graphite, the scent of woodpencils, the sound of chalk soaring through the paper, the texture of the acrylic, the feel of the eraser, the mixture of colors being born in the palette and brightness of a new white leaf, although I use too much my graphic tablet to paint.

Basically, I love to draw.

When I'm not drawing, I enjoy going out on my mountain bike through the fields nearby, where I feel free and happy.
