I'm a writer and public relations professional in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm vice president, communications, for CareerSource Northeast Florida, where I've been employed since 1997. CareerSource Northeast Floridais the regional workforce organization sevrving six counties in Northeast Florida.
I direct corporate communications and work closely with economic development organizations, providing labor market information and support to businesses considering locating or expanding in the area. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, and obtained an MBA in 2001 from Jacksonville University. I joined CareerSource with over 12 years of experience in private industry; my background includes Human Resources, recruiting, training and assessment. I spent several years with a national staffing company, serving employers on both coasts and in the local Jacksonville area.
I write a weekly column for the Florida Times Union on career and employment issues, and post weekly at my blog called @work. My writing has also appeared in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, 904 and Jacksonville Magazine, Enterprising Women Magazine and several national websites. I also teach business communications at Jacksonville University.
