The first thing to know about me, is yes, Candy Sugarman is my real name.

More about that later.

The second thing, I love taming chaos! How does that relate to Instructional Design (ID)? So much of ID is taking knowledge and best practices from SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) and transforming it into learning material that the audience has that magical ‘a-ha!’ moment and can take action on.

Delving into the thought processes and knowledge of SMEs and discovering new worlds and translating that into learning-centered courses is a thrill! Whether it is instructor-led (in-person or virtual) or eLearning - I do it all.

Instruction comes naturally to me and the ability to take complex concepts and make them understandable is my superpower! I discovered this when my technology-challenged father would call me needing help and was hopelessly confused by his computer. Without sharing a screen and not being able to speak techie to him, I was able to boil down concepts into terms he could understand.

After 15 years of running several businesses, I decided to make Instructional Design my main focus and I couldn’t be happier. Helping businesses and people is something that is my calling.

If you’ve read this far…

My father named me; he thought my name was cute never considering I would want to be taken seriously one day! I’m happy to say I’m the only Candy Sugarman in North Carolina which is where I live. I am a foster dog mom and have helped over 50+ find their forever home, I’m passionate about helping women learn how to protect themselves, I’m an avid reader and gardener.
