Carelyn Martell
I am a Contemporary Impressionist Painter in beautiful Bucks County, PA, who
paints mainly out of doors ... en plein air ... in the same manner as the French
Impressionists of the 19th century. My work is also influenced by the Scandinavian
and Russian Impressionists. My favorite artists are Manet, Pissarro, Velasquez,
Cezanne ... and the Pennsylvania Impressionists, especially Daniel Garber
and Edward Redfield.
I have studied at the Barnstone Studios, the Barnes Foundation,
several uniiversities, and with the late Martha Sampson. My
degree in art history has broadened my knowlege of the
principles and practice of painting. It continually informs my
work and helps me "stand on the shoulders" of great artists of
centuries past.
My paintings are in many private collections in the US,
Canada, France, Germany, Turkey, Japan, & other countries.
I am grateful to all who have encouraged me by
purchasing my work. Thanks to you, I can
continue to do what I love most ... Paint !
