Carey Chesney

Able to see more in order to produce tremendous results, Carey Chesney has been ensuring dependable integrated marketing communications in southeastern Michigan for various large-scale, complex non-profit organizations for over a decade. His current role as Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations for the University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) is just one example. For the UMCU, Mr. Chesney oversees and directs the integrated marketing efforts of the 60-year-old financial institution headquartered in Ann Arbor. This involves advertising, branding, internal communications and media relations.

Before joining the UMCU, Carey Chesney was Director for Marketing at the University of Michigan’s Office of University Development (OUD). Mr. Chesney was responsible for the creation and implementation of the strategic marketing and branding plan for the newly launched $4 billion Victors for Michigan campaign of the university.

In the pursuit of his career, Mr. Carey Chesney has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled interest in innovative approaches, achieving systematic results, and bringing about a robust connection between institutions and their brands. That passion has led him to pursue a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University (EMU-IMC), which has helped broaden his heretofore impressive skill set through the effective utilization of all the lessons and perspective he has accumulated.

Carey Chesney has found wide application for his mid-career experience in the course of carrying out his various responsibilities as the Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations for the University of Michigan Credit Union. He credits the EMU-IMC for enabling him to sharpen his ability to see the big picture on how a variety of marketing areas can blend together to produce a powerful, collective voice in the creation of a well-rooted, highly appreciated native Ann Arbor brand.

UMCU is the only credit union headquartered in Ann Arbor. This fact has further inspired Mr. Carey Chesney to dedicate a greater part of himself in bringing about a compelling, exclusive brand story that only Ann Arbor and its community can tell.
