Carl Dirkes
Carl Dirkes is a multi-instrumentalist who has become known as a "musician's musician". Though he plays a dozen instruments, he plays every instrument like it's the only one he plays. He also plays every style like it's his favorite. He's equally comfortable playing tenor sax in a straight-ahead jazz quartet, bass clarinet in a symphony orchestra, keyboards in a rock & roll show band, bass guitar in a country band or lead guitar in an R&B; band (all of which he's done for a living at various times in his life). Although he spent most of his musical career in show bands and on national tours, Carl is now doing a variety solo act around the Orlando area. He uses state-of-the-art sequencing technology to play all the instruments in his backing tracks, leaving out the vocals, guitar and sax parts (which he does live). The result is a 1-man show with a big enough sound to keep people dancing all night. It's live music that sounds like the record, but still has the "vibe" of a live band.
