Ms. Shain is a highly qualified attorney, committed to providing superior litigation and transaction services to clients in California and beyond. As a member of the Malibu community, she is particularly focused on serving the legal needs of Malibu residents and businesses. Ms. Shain received her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009 and her B.A. from UC San Diego in 2005. Ms. Shain is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Shain has extensive experience handling a variety of employment law issues and related litigation, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour compliance. Prior to joining Harrison Barnes, PLC, Ms. Shain handled numerous wage and hour class actions covering claims for missed meal and rest periods, unpaid overtime, and improper wage statements. She also counseled employers on preventative strategies and litigation avoidance, drafted and revised policies and procedures, and provided in-house management training.
Ms. Shain volunteered with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego's Low-Income Taxpayer clinic while at UC San Diego and received a Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Services from the State Bar of California and an Outstanding Service Award from the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc. During law school Ms. Shain was an intern at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, served as Senior Editor for the Washington University Jurisprudence Review and studied abroad at the globally renowned National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law.
