A psychotherapist in South Portland, Dr. Carole Orem-Hough began her career in depth psychology after 20 years in sales and account management. After graduating summa cum laude with an MBA from Creighton University, Dr. Carole Orem-Hough spent 16 years working at Fortune 500 companies including Eli Lilly and IBM. She went on to obtain a number of management positions in advertising, marketing, and sales.

Dr. Carole Orem entered Pacifica Graduate Institute’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program in 1997. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Maine Medical Center in 2005, where she treated patients using DBT (dialectical behavior therapy techniques) and other more traditional modalities.

As a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in brain-based treatments, she uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help her clients process and overcome long-held traumas. She draws from her background in both depth psychology and traditional forms of psychotherapy.

In addition to running her own psychotherapy practice, Dr Carole Orem-Hough owns and manages small businesses in the psychological and psychiatric medical field. She is the owner of NeuroHealthMaine, PLLC, a practice working with physicians to provide TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) -- an advanced treatment for depression and other brain-based illnesses. She also owns WholeBrainMaine, a private practice that delivers coaching and treatments to inhibit cognitive decline and strengthen brain functioning.
