I grew up in Independence, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I came to California in 1989 to work as a newspaper reporter. I have three chidren--Lulu, 9, Carlee 12 and Andy, 14. They love to surf and skateboard, play music and do cartwheels in inappropriate places.

I am the executive director of the Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. I am a member of the Rotary Club of San Pedro.
