Carousel Day School

Carousel Day School opened its doors in 1956 with a vision to help children grow and become their best self. Through the years, Carousel Day School in Hicksville has developed a curriculum that stresses learning each child personally and tailoring an educational program to develop students socially, personally, and academically. We take the time to get to know each child personally, which means we're able to provide the type of educational experience that best fits his or her needs.

One of the major differences between Carousel Day School and others is the emphasis on building confidence and self esteem by teaching love of learning, self respect, kindness, individual creativity, and new experiences. This lays the foundation from which children are able to learn in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment. The well-rounded programs are able to achieve these goals by carefully tailoring students' educational experiences to the child’s individual needs. Teachers who are capable of excelling with this mission are handpicked by Eugene Formica, Jane Formica, and Kathy Cordaro to ensure children have a healthy, productive and happy experience. Eugene and Jane Formica have over 70 years of combined experience in the education of children.

To complement Carousel Day School's curriculum, the school also offers before and after school programs. Another of the Carousel Day School's distinctive features is its own Day Camp. Here, children ages 3 through 15 can swim, play baseball, tennis, volleyball, deck hockey, miniature golf, basketball, arts and crafts, learn about nature, participate in drama, dance, learn to play a musical instrument, go on field trips and more, all on park like grounds.

Carousel Day School is fully accredited by the New York State Department of Education and Board of Regents. All of its teachers are NYS certified in Early Childhood Education. Overall, Carousel Day School seeks to balance personal development with a fun learning environment to enrich the lives of its students.
