Extensively experienced design professional Catalina Acevedo Mejia serves as chief of tram interior design for Inmobiliaria y Constructora Sayih & Sefid, SA, in San Jose, Costa Rica. Also the firm’s regional design manager for the Caribbean and Central America, she oversees the execution of design projects throughout the region, from the development of conceptual schemes to their realization in construction. With projects that include work on cultural heritage sites, Catalina Acevedo Mejia implements sustainable design principles that preserve these historic locations and their local habitat for forthcoming generations.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Mejia worked as an independent consultant and assisted in the design of several hotels along the Pacific coast of Central America, including the Mandarin Oriental en la Rivera Maya in Mexico. Among her more than 20 years of experience in diverse niches of the design field, she served for seven years as a professor for Universidad Art Design, where she taught interior design for real estate developments. She has also managed the design of retail spaces for Taller de Diseño de Inspiraciones Addax, as well as corporate office design for Righetti Industries.

An avid fitness enthusiast, Catalina Acevedo Mejia has participated in athletic activities throughout her life and has maintained a 90-minute daily CrossFit training regimen for nearly two years. She also travels extensively around the world, having previously visited England, Vietnam, Oman, the Maldives, and Canada, among other countries.
