Archaeology and Material Science in Amman, Jordan
Earning a B.Sc. in geology and an M.A. and Ph. D. in archeology give me a new deep prospective on the technology, art and history of human productivity, one of my deep interests since an early age. I have backgrounds in science, literary work and history which has helped me advance in my career. At the Jordanian Department of Antiquities, my various roles included transfer of knowledge through teaching and training, protecting and guardianship as a conservator and an archivist to administration as chief of staff of the director general office. Subsequently, I taught for two years at the German Jordan University, where I also did research and community engagement at the Center for the Study of the Natural and Cultural Heritage with whom I continue to collaborate, through volunteering and participation in various projects. In addition, I had nine years of experience working at the German Protestant Institute for Archaeology, where I contributed to the cross-cultural cooperation, and in helping to unravel Jordan’s heritage by assisting German teams using their expertise for the welfare of the heritage and culture of the country. Within my work, I was responsible for the Social Media pages, helped with the preparation of press releases, lecture announcements and Institute’s pamphlets.
I remain deeply interested in the technical nature of my field, and I continue to be involved with a number of research projects related to documentation, material science, conservation of archeology and preservation of cultural heritage, where I find my true self. In addition, I am a active member in many national and international bodies (ICOMOS, ASOR, ICCM, IUCN, and IFLA) where I contribute in protection of world’s heritage.
