Ceawlin Thynn
Ceawlin Thynn is a British businessman with commercial interests spanning leisure, tourism, property and financial services. He began his career as an emerging markets specialist at the London investment bank Caspian Securities, before becoming involved in Russian real estate as a partner at Sabre Projects, a property development firm. In 2009 he became chairman of Longleat Enterprises in the UK, a company comprising the operations at Longleat House and Safari Park as well as the show caves at Cheddar Gorge, in Wiltshire and Somerset in south west England. Longleat Safari Park is the oldest drive-through safari park outside Africa, and is home to over 500 animals. Longleat Enterprises recently acquired two luxury country hotels – the Bishopstrow House & Spa Hotel in Warminster, Wiltshire, and Homewood Park Hotel & Spa near Bath, Somerset – in October and November 2011. In 2010 Ceawlin Thynn became Executive Chairman of Wombat’s Holdings GmbH, a chain of premium quality hostels in Germany and Austria, having acquired a majority stake. With units in Vienna, Berlin and Munich, Wombat’s has established a reputation as a first rate product within the sector, and the company is now preparing to expand into other major European cities.
