Dr. Charlene Kushler
A fully licensed psychologist and social worker with over 30 years experience, Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler is well regarded in the psychology field for cases involving families and children. Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler currently works in private practice at ACS Assessment and Treatment Centers in Williamston and Brighton, Michigan, providing psychological evaluations, diagnostic assessments, testing, and therapy.
Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler spent her entire collegiate career at Michigan State University in East Lansing, her scholarly aptitude earning her positions in both the MSU Honors College and Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and in Social Work in 1977, and pursued a Master’s degrees in the clinical track of Social Work in 1979 and Counseling Psychology in 1985. Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler also earned a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Michigan State University in 1991.
A major contribution in Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler’s collegiate career was the development of the Therapeutic Intensive Foster Care Program for Children and Adolescents. Procured in 1981, Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler’s program works to re-parent emotionally disturbed children within a foster home setting. Implemented in the State of Michigan, Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler’s successful program gained recognition at the Annual Meeting of the National Council of Community Mental Health Centers in 1983, as well as Michigan’s Statewide Family and Child Services Conference in 1986.
Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler’s subsequent program development included working with the Court on creating the SMILE program in Livingston County in 1993 to make parents experiencing divorce aware of the psychological impact of divorce on families. Invited as a panel presenter, Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler also helped clinicians develop approaches to eliminate the negative impact that divorce has on families in the workshop, Helping Divorcing Clients: A Workshop for Therapists, in 2007. Recently, Dr. Charlene Crickon Kushler developed and conducted training in 2009 for clinicians regarding anxiety disorders in children and adolescents in Livingston County.
