A graduate of UC Berkeley, Charlotte Murphy MD, earned her bachelor's degree in social studies and then went on to complete a master's degree in Public Health at UCLA. Later, she attended the University of California , San Diego, to receive her medical degree. Following that, Charlotte Murphy, MD, completed her residency in psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.

In the years since that time, Charlotte Murphy has held positions including medical director for a residential substance abuse treatment program for women at New Hope Manor. She also became a guest lecturer on psychopharmacology for graduate students in the SUNY New Paltz Mental Health Counseling Program.

Since 2014, Charlotte Murphy has worked as an independent psychiatrist in New Paltz, New York. She provides evaluation and treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, neurological conditions, reproductive psychiatric issues, and other mental health issues. She also works with local pharmacies to prevent potential misuse of pharmaceuticals.

In her leisure time, she enjoys hobbies such as hiking with her dog and kayaking. She has also become involved in animal rescue and supports the Humane Society of America.
