Tommy Thompson, a chef for Bando's, a catering business in Beaumont, sculpts a Super Bowl centerpiece from a 300-block of ice at the Pompano Club for its Super Bowl party on Sunday. Thompson might be the only person in Southeast Texas who carves buffet centerpieces from ice blocks that he freezes himself at his home. When the centerpiece is rolled out on Sunday, it should last for six hours before it looks as if it's melting, Thompson said. Dan Wallach/The Enterprise.
