Cherie Magnus

Cherie Magnus, a California native, lives, writes, and teaches tango in Buenos Aires. Cherie began dancing tango in 1997. She was a dance research librarian in the Los Angeles Central Library and a dance critic for local newspapers before moving to France, Mexico, and family to Argentina. Many of her articles on dance, books, travel and international culture have been published in magazines, professional journals, and several anthologies. A Finalist in the Buenos Aires Tango Championships of 2006, she has appeared in two video documentaries and a radio documentary with her Argentine partner, Ruben Aybar. Her first memoir, the award-winning The Church of Tango, was published in January 2012. Arabesque: Dancing on the Edge in Los Angeles, a memoir of 1960, was published in 2014.
