Who is Ms. Phillips?

As third year student, currently studying to become a professional teacher at the University of Johannesburg studying, I find myself amazed by the things I learn everyday and am continuously motivated to include the new things as well as the old into my approach to teaching.

I strive to allow learners to be current and innovative and to accept positive changes in their lives at every opportunity because I believe change is the only constant thing we have in our lives. My one dream, as a future educator is to bridge the gap between the idea students have of what a teacher is and what a teacher really is and for them to realize that as teachers, we bleed too: we are “only human”.

My main interest involves singing, I was always involved in singing activities at a young age and enjoy it very much. recently I gained an interest in computers and how I could use it to make my lessons more interesting and engaging. my other interest involve cooking, movies, and watching television series.

My mission as an educator is to encourage other educators to introduce a new age kind of education, where we do still use old methods but make it current, . I also aim to encourage my learners to be thinkers and not just learners who want to ‘just’ pass with scopes! As a person I know that trying to achieve something is not always easy but i believe that with perseverance and determination i will achieve my goals.
