Chris Tutill

Hello! My name is Chris Tutill, an aspiring, independent (read amateur) artist. I originally come from Wirral but now reside in Yorkshire, England.

I find inspiration for my work in everyday life and like any other artist, from the natural beauty that surrounds us. I don’t restrict myself to a particular style. If a composition interests me, I’ll paint it. My favourite mediums include watercolours, oil paints and oil pastels. As obvious as it sounds, I enjoy capturing the tonal contrasts of light- the way in which it can bounce, skim and weave across surfaces. Choosing a composition, scale or palette can be difficult enough but successfully portraying the tricks of light, for me, is one of the most enjoyable challenges as an artist.

I don’t intend for this space to be overly methodical, scheduled or contrived. In addition to the motivation and inspiration I can derive from others, venturing into the world of ‘blogging’ is simply a great opportunity to share my work and experiences with those who might be interested.
