I moved to the United States at the age of fourteen from Jamaica West Indies, and quickly immersed myself into America's genre. Years later in college I discovered my indentity that was buried under assimilation that I had planted in my veins. My voice became the vehicle of living. It gave me purpose and a resurrection of soul that drives me to this day. I am a teacher..father..husband and author. I have written three books..."Of Madmen And Silent Voices"..."When the gods Speak Through Rain" and "The Beautiful Noise In My Head". I am a lover of words, thus my joy for writing poetry and stories. Poetry to me is bleeding on the world. It is an oupouring of emotions that can never be questioned because it is the truth that resides within. I believe in humanity and most of my work deals with people and their journey through the chaos of the world. I respect the words of those who left and are still toiling amongst us. People like Langston Hughes who is the grandfather to my soul. Amiri Barack..shaping of my mind. Maya....Giovanni....Claude Mckay..and most recently Terrence Hayes. These are some of the men and women who are constantly speaking to me. I feel their pain while understanding the circumstances that led them down the road of hardship. I write not to be famous but just to be heard. I write because the world needs to look in the mirror. I write because my brain needs to be purge. I write because without words I am lifeless.
