Claire C. Carr has worked in the legal field for three decades. She began her career as a legal intern with the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia in 1988 while pursuing her juris doctor at the University of Richmond School of Law. Claire C. Carr later served as a law clerk with the Office of the Staff Attorney of the Virginia Supreme Court and to Senior Justice Richard H. Poff of the Virginia Supreme Court before embarking on her career as a practicing attorney.

Claire Carr has practiced at the Richmond, VA-based law firm of Kalbaugh, Pfund & Messersmith, PC, since 1992. From 1992 to 2000, she focused on insurance defense litigation, representing individuals and companies in 75 jury trials before turning her focus to exclusively worker's compensation defense. She currently leads as a shareholder, managing partner and vice president of the firm and manages the attorneys in the firm's Workers’ Compensation Practice Group, which represents employers, insurance companies, third-party administrators, and other entities.

In addition to her law degree, Claire Carr holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. She is admitted to practice in the Fourth Circuit US Court of Appeals and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
