In 1999 I graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.of Science in Wildlife Management. After graduation I worked and taught at a variety of animal facilities: LSU's Veterinary Teaching School, vet clinics, nature centers, and The Audubon Nature Institute.

Throughout my professional career, my work has always focused on enhancing the human-animal bond, while promoting choice-based (force-free) training for all species. I am passionate about teaching these techniques to youth and adults everywhere. I am dedicated to inspiring and educating people of all ages and backgrounds to create a stronger connection with their animal companions while increasing safety and well-being of everyone in the home.

I have studied animal welfare, applied behavior analysis, animal training, animal husbandry, ethology, and animal enrichment for nearly 20 years. During this time I have experienced the “A to Z” of stress that comes with living and working with exotic and domestic animals, so I am empathetic to people who are experiencing behavioral issues with their animal companions.

As an Intuitive Empath and an Energy Healing Practitioner, I have learned my greatest life lessons from animals, trees, and nature. Since childhood I have always been passionate about connecting with all forms of life. I have a deep respect for every scaly, feathered, and furry species! I am dedicated to inspiring and educating people to create a stronger connection with their animal companions and to connect with nature.

These days I am the owner and chief operator of Conscious Companion™. I am on the advisory board for Family Paws Parent Education. I am a licensed presenter of the Dogs & Storks® and the Dogs & Toddlers™ programs. I serve on the Pet Professional Guild's Cat Committee. I am a Doggone Safe presenter. I am an active member of the Pet Professional Guild and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. I also serve on the board of advisers for the Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary.

Some of my published works include "An analysis of the post-release success of captive-bred Louisiana Pine Snakes", "Target training and voluntary blood drawing of the Aldabra Tortoise", and "Whisker Stress".

My life's work is dedicated to honoring and exploring the human-animal bond. Building trust while respecting an animal's individual needs and preferences builds bonds.

The result is "Life With Our Animal Companion, Improved!"
