I am a graduating senior here at NCCU studying to pursue a degree in social work. I volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house when I have free time. Growing up I have always had dreams to attend college and when given that opportunity I accepted it with no hesitation. I am from Kinston, NC a smaller city closer to the coast. In Kinston there is not much hope, but when I perceived the significance it all became clear that the youth of my community is the only hope. I wish to become a leader in my community to create opportunities and alleviate some of the main issues. As a generation I feel as if we are misguided simply because everyone is talking, but no one is even taking the time out to consider listening. At this day and time my generation has seen it all from hardships to senseless shootings, and they are becoming products of their environment not because that's what they choose to do, but because that is all they have witnessed. When you have an advocate who is taking the initiative to lend a helping hand, and teach there are others ways to survival you will witness change. Even-though I am pursuing a BSW I wish to return to my community and be that person that will implement change."“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform."-Diane Marechild
