Cynthia Roark
Mental Health Counselor in Columbia, South Carolina
Welcome to my profile! I hope this information provides a glimpse of who I am and what I do.
I recently joined Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) as of their Advocate Counselors. I provide evidence-based treatment to individuals and their families who have experienced sexual violence. My favorite thing about my job is empowering survivors on their journey to health and healing.
Prior to STSM, I attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and Ed.S.in Counselor Education. Upon graduating from USC, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor. Throughout my training, I worked as a counselor on campus and at a local children’s home, so it was a natural transition to continue to primarily provide therapy to children in foster care. While providing these services, I noticed a pattern that trauma was at the core of so many problems my clients were bringing to me. This sparked my interested in further developing my clinical skills to treat trauma. In my sessions, my goal is to empower and meet the needs of my client.
In my free time, you can find me at a barre class, walking my dog, or spending time with loved ones while cheering on the Gamecocks.
