Dan Bucsko

With more than 15 years of experience in the health administration industry, Dan Bucsko heads the region system redesign and process improvement initiative at VA Northern California Health Care System. In this role, he utilizes performance metrics to inform his training of more than 3,500 employees with the aim of simultaneously increasing efficiency and decreasing operational risks and conflicts. Dan Bucsko also collaborates with the VA’s senior staff to identify ways to best center efforts on patients.

In addition to his responsibilities at the VA, he serves on the faculty of the University of Phoenix in Sacramento, California. He instructs five-week undergraduate courses and has approval to teach each of the required classes for the school’s BS in health administration.

Away from the classroom, Dan Bucsko enjoys running, listening to all genres of music, and watching games of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Some of his favorite players for the latter include Andrew McCutchen and Roberto Clemente. An avid traveler, he has visited many countries around the world, including Singapore, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
