Fandral the Dashing
Midgard
Fandral's mother was a whore. He lived with her in a brothel until she died of a sickness when he was eight. Afterwards, his father was paid to take him in but their relationship didn't last long. His father was a harsh man who soon became fed up with carting around a child. They travelled to Asgard castle and, with some rough persuasion, Fandral was taken in by one of the servants. His father left that same night; Fandral never saw him again and never even knew his name.
The servant, a man by the name of Hennings, was greedy, ambitions, and had a penchant for little boys. Fandral's dependency on him for food and shelter made the young boy the perfect candidate for his twisted affections. Soon enough, Fandral was spending the majority of his time on the streets. He did what he had to survive and ran afoul of the palace guards more than once.
When Hogun showed up in Asgard, Fandral immediately developed an obsession for the older boy. He begged Hogun to teach him swordsmanship. Hogun refused at first, but when he saw the bruises Fandral sustained at the hands of the guards he agreed. Not long after that, the two met Volstagg and the Warriors Three were born.
A rift grew between the princes as they aged and Fandral became closer to Loki. It was not the most "normal" of friendships, but the two learnt a lot from each other and were nearly inseparable for centuries.
Eventually, Fandral broke out on his own. On Midgard, under the guise of "Robin Hood", he became a well-known champion of the people and fell in love with a lady named Marian. They were married and for a while Fandral was intoxicatingly happy, but mortals die. When Marian passed, he returned to Asgard and rejoined his friends.
Things had changed on Asgard in his absence. Hogun had become even more distant, Loki more cold, and Sif had become a solo warrior. Volstagg was a father once more. Thor, meanwhile, was busy with preparing for the crown. There seemed to be some sort of rift between the entire group. In the space of a hundred years, so much had changed and it seemed unfixable.
When Loki destroyed Manhattan, Fandral had gotten himself into a bit of an issue with a sorceress. News of the prince's failed attempt at a takeover didn't reach him until he had broken out of a particularly nasty spell. Despite the fact that it had been centuries since he and Loki considered each other friends, Fandral set out to Midgard at once.
