David Maslach

I have a PhD in Strategic Management from Ivey. My research currently uses the Carnegie School of organizational learning (a type of decision theory) to investigate the management of innovation and failure in advanced technologies. My projects use a novel dataset on medical devices, gathered from multiple sources, including the US Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).

I grew up in Dryden, Northwestern Ontario. The closest cities were Winnipeg, Man. and Thunder Bay, Ontario. Both of these cities were 4 hours away. I learnt about the outdoors in Dryden. I studied Chemical Engineering, Sociology, and Management Science at the University of Waterloo. I discovered that I was interested in how people organize and how people come to understand technology. I spend most of my free time with my son (Jack), wife (Lyndsey) and two wild dogs (Maddie and Carlie).
