David Dominguez

David Dominguez served for 32 years as a committed public safety professional in Southern California. Prior to his retirement in 2011, David Dominguez served as Chief of Police for the Palm Springs Police Department. His leadership in the department helped the community see decreased rates in property crime, violent crime, and quality-of-life problems. Notable programs implemented by David Dominguez included the COMPSTAT accountability program, the Neighborhood Police Officer Program, and an upgraded version of the Crime Analysis program. Chief Dominguez also worked in affiliation with Palm Springs High School to implement a Youth Leadership Academy to educate young people regarding career options in the government.

The professional responsibilities of Chief Dominguez entailed managing a $26 million budget for the public safety of Palm Springs. Earlier in his career, he gained diverse law enforcement and leadership experience in positions including Captain of Investigations and Deputy Chief of Police for the Riverside Police Department.

After retirement, David Dominguez has remained active as an educator at the university level. His current engagements include serving as an Adjunct Instructor at the College of the Desert and at California State University San Bernardino. Courses recently taught by David Dominguez include Criminal Law, Introduction to Administration of Justice, Narcotics, Concepts of Patrol, and Hate Crimes. His past teaching experience includes leading courses for the Department of Justice and the Community Policing Consortium. Beyond his current teaching career, he was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Unforgettables Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

Educated at the California State University Fullerton, David Dominguez earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1984 and his Master of Public Administration in 1988.
