David Topolewski

Possessing a diverse background in technology, finance, and upper management, David Topolewski functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the Beijing-based education company Qooco. The company develops effective methods for teaching spoken Mandarin and English, blending current technologies with direct teaching. Students around the globe can access the Qooco website to participate in integrated courses that combine games, videos, and human-computer conversations. Mr. Topolewski and Qooco adopted Dr. Hans Kung’s approach toward a global ethic, embracing the principles of tolerance, equal rights, solidarity, and nonviolence. To that end, Mr. Topolewski and his team are in the process of bringing the groundbreaking Qooco technology to nursing students in Bangladesh, primary school teachers in Indonesia, and other people in need across Asia. Committed to improving China, Mr. Topolewski and Qooco support the Entrepreneurs’ Organization in Beijing and the Beijing International Christian Fellowship. In addition to his professional work, David Topolewski contributes to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the Applied Voice Input/Output Society, and the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. He also participates with The Grameen Creative Lab, the Unaccompanied Children Association in Cambodia, and AkarakA. David Topolewski completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He subsequently enrolled at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania to pursue his MBA. Upon earning his MBA, he gained firsthand financial experience with the investment bank of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin. Working as an Associate, he maintained responsibility for conceiving and designing intricate cash flow models to help in the valuation of various firms and corporations. After starting his career as an analyst, David Topolewski assumed a management position with Buxton, Thomas, Burroughs & Company as the Chief Financial Officer. He served the gourmet food and beverage supplier for a time before accepting the CFO post at a renowned interior design company focusing exclusively on hotel properties. Before coming to Qooco, Mr. Topolewski garnered experience and insight into the software business as the Executive Producer at Cortina Entertainment, the company behind several successful video game titles, such as Anpanman and Jackie Chan’s Stuntmaster.
