As an experienced law enforcement officer, Dawn Tevepaugh takes a proactive approach to leadership. She currently serves as chief of the Durham Technical Community College Police and is committed to optimizing department resources to protect the campus community. Dawn Tevepaugh collaborates across departments to enforce university regulations, ensure resolution of incidents, and develop initiatives that protect the safety of community members.

Dawn Tevepaugh has also served as chief of police for Guilford Technical Community College, where she oversaw all department operations and developed long-term strategies that align with industry best practices. She had previously served as assistant chief of police for East Carolina University and as patrol captain for the University of North Carolina Charlotte Police.

Dawn Tevepaugh holds a master of science in organizational management from Pfeiffer University, where she had previously received her bachelor of arts in criminal justice. She also holds a bachelor of science in emergency and disaster management from Western Carolina University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Further, she holds a certified law enforcement instructor credential and an advanced law enforcement certificate from the North Carolina Department of Justice Training and Standards division.
