Dean Otto

Dean was born in Durban, South Africa, and graduated in 1980 from Westville Boys High School as an All-State Rugby and Soccer player. Following high school, he completed his mandatory national service in the South African Army.

While vacationing in the USA, Dean received a full scholarship to be a place-kicker for the University of Oregon Ducks and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications and Film.

Dean is the President of the Board of Trustees of a new independent school, Maui Preparatory Academy. Dean’s philanthropic efforts have resulted in total donations to West Maui charities in the last 5 years in excess of $350,000.

Dean’s real estate career began at Kapalua Realty in 1989 and he was promoted to Principal Broker in 1995. He has been active in the real estate industry and was a past member of the Maui Board of Maui Board of Realtors’ Grievance Committee and a past member of the Public Relations Committee. In 1999, Dean moved to Sakamoto Properties as Broker-in-Charge. He is a West Maui and Kapalua Resort Specialist with 23 years of experience as a top producer and has been consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Realtors in Hawaii by Hawaii Business Magazine.
