Danish national living in the US since 1981; currently call the historic seaside hamlet of Port Townsend, WA home. Joyfully married to my best friend and great Love of my life.

I am a writer, cereal box philosopher and commentator on this thing called "life," specialized in furthering understanding of what it means to be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), as defined by Dr. Elaine Aron in her 1996 book "The Highly Sensitive Person." Since 2002, I have been publishing HSP Notes, now the web's oldest blog dedicated entirely to exploring the ins and outs of being an HSP. In addition, I have written hundreds of articles on the topic, often focusing on the particular challenges associated with being Highly Sensitive and male in our culture, especially in the USA.

What do I "DO?" We ask this question without thinking... and tend to judge people by what they "do" rather than by who they "are." What I "do" is love my wife, pet my cat, watch sunsets, eat good food... but that wasn't what you meant.... was it?

Since 2006, I have been blessed to be able to derive my living entirely from "pursuing my hobbies," which essentially is the process of turning my childhood loves of beach combing, stamp collecting, drawing geometric patterns and writing into a way of life. To some, this may sound like an impossibility or "pie in the sky"-- to me it is proof that you truly can create whatever reality you want to. I may not have riches in the monetary sense, but I do have them in terms of simply living... a point you can only reach when you realize that inner peace comes from being, not from the eternal pressure to "have" or "do."
