Derek Townsend

After five years on the Thunderbird football team, University of British Columbia alumnus Derek Townsend joined the Canada National Rugby 7. Derek Townsend later studied real estate at the Sauder School of Business before joining Citifund Capital Fund in 2012.

In less than four years working at Citifund, Mr. Townsend became the youngest vice president in the firm’s history. Since 2018, he has worked with the brokerage corporation as a principal and owner.

Additionally, he supports the local real estate community by serving on the board for LandlordBC, a members-only resource for property owners in British Columbia. For over a decade, he has continued to share his passion for rugby through his involvement with the Meraloma Athletic Club.

The nearly century-old club organizes competitive sports teams for youth and adults. Following four years as a player and a two-year term as president of the rugby program, Derek Townsend is now the club’s director. He is also an avid golfer and football player.
