Derek Walrod
Nebraska
Dentist Dr. Derek Walrod has spent most of his life in Nebraska. After graduating from high school in the town of Gordon in 1987, he chose to remain in-state for his higher education and enrolled at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Over the next four years, he studied science while also pursuing an interest in art history. Derek Walrod graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Walrod also participated in the Sigma Chi fraternity.
After deciding to become a dentist, Dr. Derek Walrod remained at the University of Nebraska and began classes at the university’s Medical Center College of Dentistry. Four years later, in 1995, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery, and went into private practice. He founded Flatrock Family Dentistry in North Platte, Nebraska, and opened a second clinic in 1996 in the town of Gothenburg. Although he stopped operating the Gothenburg Dental Clinic in 2005, Dr. Walrod continues to run Flatrock Family Dentistry. In addition to general dentistry, he offers cosmetic and children’s dentistry, as well as implant placement.
Dr. Derek Walrod continues to live and work in Nebraska. An avid athlete, he enjoys watching Nebraska football and rooting for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers (at the professional level, however, he favors the Pittsburgh Steelers). He also enjoys Nebraska’s great outdoors, and goes fishing near Brady, Nebraska, at Jeffrey Lake. Dr. Walrod also enjoys sports in nearby Colorado, including snow skiing and white water rafting.
