Desmond J. Barnes

Desmond J. Barnes is a senior marketing major at Winston-Salem State University. He is currently studying abroad in Bangkok, Thailand at Thammasat University where he will finish his collegiate career during the Spring of 2012. The WSSU motto is to "Enter to Learn and Depart to Serve". Instead of waiting to depart, Desmond has served his student body and the W-S community in a number of ways. To date, he has established a community service based organization, a heart walk, a merit based scholarship, and has assisted 20+ students to obtain internships and full-time job opportunities. These accomplishments were made possible by building meaningful relationships and accepting the responsibility of becoming a servant leader.

Professionally, Desmond has completed internships with AT&T, Target, and WSSU respectively. These opportunities have allowed him to gain professional experience in marketing, management, and consultative selling. His experience abroad has given him a new perspective on what it takes to be successful in a global economy.

Desmond is currently challenging his entreprenueral spirit by creating Ros3. This company provides a service to individuals, community service organizations, and businesses that allows them to communicate more effectively. He develops unique and creative platforms to reach their target audience through mediums that are aesthetically pleasing. Ros3 specializes in photography and videography.

As he begins to transition from college, Desmond is looking to establish a relationship with a company that will be mutally beneficial. A place where he can learn and build on his skill set while helping to improve those around him and assisting the company with accomplishing the goals that have been set forth.
