Destiny Shantell Woodbury

I'm from RHODE ISLAND. Yes - the smallest, biggest state in the USA. I graduated on May 07 from the University of Rhode Island with three degrees: Chemistry B.S., Chemistry B.A., & Secondary Education and a minor in Leadership Studies. I was also on the URI Women's Track & Field Team, where I was the captain for 2 years. GOOOO RHODY! I moved to Texas right after graduation from Rhode Island to train for the 2012 Olympics. Track & Field is MY HEART. I joined the Teach For America (TFA) Program in 2007 (www.teachforamerica.com) because I truly do believe that one day, all children in this nation will attain an excellent education. I was an 8th grade science teacher during my first 2 years of teaching in Houston, TX. I also became the science department chair after my 1st year of teaching. I decided to stay another year at my current school because I truly love teaching and my students. However, the 2009-2010 school year, I taught 6th Grade Science. In 2010, I left HISD and joined KIPP Houston. I'm currently a 5th grade Science Teacher, Science Department Chair, Grade Level Chair, and Head Track & Field Coach at KIPP: Liberation. YEAR 6 OF TEACHING was great! Now on to YEAR 7.

I own my own businesses - Delectable P.I.E.S. and Destiny Woodbury Events & Rentals and I love my family and friends.
