Devraj Sanyal
Devraj Sanyal( Born Devraj Sugata Sanyal 21 March 1975) is Managing Director of Universal Music for the Greater India region ( India/Pakistan/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nepal ) since June 24, 2010. As MD of UMGI India, based in the company’s headquarters in Mumbai, he is responsible for the management & operational running of these regions. Having a background in music & being Frontman of India’s premier heavy metal band “ Brahma”, he is also credited as the founder of the Sunburn Festival which is by far the most significant & rated Asian music festival. Sanyal is married to Nikita Sanyal and has a 6 year old daughter Sera. Devraj Sanyal began his career in the early 90’s in the event marketing & sponsorship management business with his own company “ Curtain Raisers”. In 1995 he moved to the inception team of Elle Magazine in India looking after advertising & Marketing. He then moved to the Times of India in 2000 to set up the Group’s Below the Line Businesses and creating the company 360 Degrees. After a 3 year super successful stint he became the COO of Percept Limited’s Sports & Event company PDM. He was promoted to CEO of PDM in 2006. He was further promoted to Group CEO of PSE ( Percept Sports & Entertainment) which housed all the businesses of the group save advertising & media. In 2010 he moved to UMGI to run India & SAARC as its new Managing Director. Sanyal reports to Victor Antippas, President of Nordic, Central & Eastern Europe & Sub-Saharan Africa & India.
